Privacy

Last updated 28 July 2026

Nightink collects nothing. There is no server, no account and no analytics. Everything you write stays on your device.

That is the whole policy. The rest of this page is the detail, because a claim like that should be checkable rather than taken on trust.

What the app stores, and where

Your entries, titles, moods, tags, stickers and settings are written to storage on your own device — the app's local storage, mirrored to the operating system's own preference store so they survive if the browser layer is cleared. Photos you attach are stored in the app's local database on the same device.

None of it is transmitted anywhere. There is no Nightink server for it to be transmitted to.

What we collect about you

Nothing. No name, no email address, no account, no device identifier, no advertising identifier, no location, no usage analytics, no crash reports.

The app makes no network requests of its own. Fonts, images and all other assets are bundled inside it, which is also why it works with no connection at all.

Purchases

If you buy the paid features, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple or Google. They tell the app one thing: whether this device has bought the product. We never see your name, your email address or your payment details, and no purchase information reaches us.

Apple and Google handle that data under their own privacy policies, not ours.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled locally on your device by the operating system. Nothing is sent from anywhere. You can turn it off in the app or in your device settings.

Backups and exports

When you export or back up, the app writes a file and hands it to your device's share sheet. Where it goes next is entirely your choice — Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, email, anywhere. We are not involved in that transfer and never receive a copy.

The lock, honestly

The PIN and Face ID lock stop someone picking up your unlocked phone and reading your diary. They are a screen lock, not encryption: your entries are stored in the app's normal storage, protected by your device's own full-disk encryption rather than by a separate key of ours.

We would rather say that plainly than imply something stronger.

Children

Nightink is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Deleting your data

Delete an entry in the app and it is gone from the device, along with any photos attached to it. Delete the app and everything goes with it. There is nothing held elsewhere for us to delete on request, because we never had it.

Export a backup first if you want to keep any of it.

Changes

If this ever changes — if a future version adds an optional cloud backup, for instance — this page will be updated before that version ships, and anything of the sort will be opt-in and clearly labelled.
